Failure to Report Hazing
In Massachusetts, under M.G.L. c. 269, § 18, in order for a person to be convicted of Failure to Report Hazing, the Commonwealth must prove two things beyond a reasonable doubt. First, that the Defendant knew that another person was the victim of hazing, and Secondly, that the Defendant did not report such crime to an appropriate law enforcement official as soon as reasonably practicable. However, if a Defendant could not report the hazing without placing himself or herself in danger then they are not guilty of failure to report hazing.
Failure to Report Hazing carries the following potential penalty:
- fine of not more than $1000
